Terms & Privacy
The short version
- Your script is yours
- You keep every right to everything you upload. We claim no ownership and no license beyond what it takes to run the analysis you ask for.
- Analysis stays on your device
- Page counts, scene breakdowns, character stats and craft flags are calculated in your browser. Your script is not sent anywhere for these.
- Coverage is opt-in
- Only pressing Write coverage sends script text out, to the AI provider that generates the report.
- No training, no storage
- We don’t store your script on our servers, and your script is not used to train AI models.
- It’s a first read
- Coverage is machine-generated opinion. It can be wrong, and it doesn’t predict whether anyone will buy your work.
1About these terms
CoverageOS is operated by [LEGAL NAME OR COMPANY] (“we,” “us”). By using CoverageOS you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to use CoverageOS.
2Ownership of your work
You retain all copyright and other rights in any script, treatment or other material you submit (“your work”), and in the coverage generated for it.
You give us only a limited, temporary permission to process your work for the single purpose of producing the analysis or coverage you request. That permission ends when the request is complete. We will never publish, sell, share, adapt or option your work, and we will never use it to develop stories, products or other works.
3How your script is handled
- On-device analysis. The free analysis runs entirely in your web browser. Your script is not transmitted to us or anyone else for it.
- Coverage requests. When you choose Write coverage, the text of your script (or the excerpt you select) is sent over an encrypted connection to a third-party AI provider that runs the model. The report is returned to your browser.
- No storage by us. Our servers pass the request through and do not save your script. [IF SAVED HISTORY IS ADDED: describe what is stored, where, and how to delete it.]
- AI providers. We only use AI providers whose business terms prohibit training their models on your content. Providers may keep request data for a limited time, including for abuse and safety monitoring, under their own data retention policies. The providers we currently use are listed here: [PROVIDER LIST WITH LINKS TO THEIR DATA POLICIES]. We’ll update this list before adding a new provider.
- Account and payment data. If you create an account or pay, we keep your email address and payment records. Payments are processed by [STRIPE]; we never see or store your card number.
- Analytics. [DESCRIBE ANY ANALYTICS, OR STATE “WE DON’T USE TRACKING COOKIES.”]
4AI-generated coverage
Coverage is produced by an AI model and reflects an automated reading, not the opinion of a person. It may contain mistakes, misread your story, or miss what makes it work. It is not professional, legal or financial advice, and it is no guarantee that a script will be sold, produced, placed in a competition or represented.
Page counts and statistics are estimates based on standard screenplay formatting and can differ from your screenwriting software.
5Acceptable use
Please only submit material you wrote or have the right to submit. Don’t use CoverageOS to:
- analyze other people’s unpublished work without their permission;
- break the law or infringe anyone’s rights;
- attack, overload, reverse-engineer or scrape the service; or
- resell coverage as human-written professional coverage.
6Accounts and payment
Prices are shown before you pay. [PER-SCRIPT OR SUBSCRIPTION TERMS, RENEWAL AND CANCELLATION.] If a coverage request fails and no report is delivered, you will not be charged for it, or you will be refunded. [REFUND POLICY.]
You’re responsible for keeping your login secure.
7Our property
The CoverageOS name, design and software belong to us. These terms don’t give you rights in them beyond using the service as intended.
8No warranties
CoverageOS is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
9Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost profits or opportunities. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you paid nothing.
Keep your own copies of your work. CoverageOS is not a storage or backup service.
10Ending the service
You can stop using CoverageOS at any time [AND DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT FROM SETTINGS]. We may suspend access that breaks these terms. If we shut CoverageOS down, we’ll give reasonable notice and refund any unused prepaid credit.
11Changes
We may update these terms. When the change is material, we’ll post it here with a new effective date and, if you have an account, email you before it applies. We will never change Section 2 in a way that takes rights in your work.
12Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [CALIFORNIA], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of [SAN FRANCISCO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA].
